Vern's 1946 taupe border

The story of Vern's Place begins with a World War II soldier who wanted to open a little Colorado roadside diner with his brother. Willard Nelson wrote his brother, Vern, to see what he thought of the idea and Vern said yes.

In 1946 the brothers opened Vern's Place in Laporte, not far from the entrance to Poudre Canyon. Word spread and Vern's became a favorite in the area. Today, 78 years later, we're still dishing up great homestyle food that you'll come back for.
