The story of Vern's Place begins with a soldier in World War II who wanted to open a little roadside diner with his brother after the war. Willard Nelson wrote his brother, Vern, to see what he thought of the idea, and Vern said yes.
In 1946, the brothers opened Vern's Place in Laporte, not far from the entrance to Poudre Canyon. Word spread and Vern's became a favorite in the area. Today, 78 years later, we're still dishing up great homestyle food that you'll come back for.
